Ancient History
Pre-976 - First Clans
Few records exist prior to the Unification Campaign, but did become more frequent as time progressed. What records there are show that magic was feared and not used by fae, and that the Bendith were more similar to each other than they are now, and that they operated similarly to how the Yarldoms of Lyonn do today.
Early History
976-985 - Unification Campaign
A fae being of the name Arawn sought to unify the First Clans, wanting to bring more order to the section of the world they lived in. Many Clans did not want to comply - some fought, others left into the Faewilds not to be heard from again.
985-1062 - Arawn’s Reign
Generally considered the Golden Age of Antumnos, the Kingdom was known as Annwn. Arawn's wife, Finnabair, developed an alphabet and language for all to use. This became known as the White Lady’s Alphabet, and the language, still used today, as dravod. During this time, she bore Arawn twin children - Princess Herla and Prince Guthlac.
1062 - Division of Annwn
Arawn disappeared in mysterious circumstances, and the duty of looking after the Kingdom of Annwn fell to his five loyal generals - the Cwn Annwn. However, these five were unable to agree how to rule the Kingdom, but they eventually settled on one thing - to split the Kingdom into five nations.
The continent became known as Antumnos, and each nation diverged in appearance and customs. There have been rumours since, detailing the return of the rightful King of Annwn, and that someday, Arawn will claim back his throne.
The Cwn Annwn went their separate ways, and the five nations largely ignored each other in favour of developing their own cultures. Eventually, each nation became so distinct that it is believed that the ley lines intersecting them began to affect them in different ways.
Gwynn ap Nudd, the son of Arawn’s close friend, founded Llanhythel in the ethereal forests of Antumnos.
Prince Guthlac, refusing to believe that his father was truly gone, abdicated his right to rule and followed a simple life in Havod.
Princess Herla, wanting to move forward, founded the industrial home of Kloth’va.
Eadric the Wild, a friend of Arawn, returned to his northern home of Lyonn, and became the Yarl of his former Clan.
Hereward the Wake also returned to his home, though tried to integrate some of Arawn’s ideals in his coastal homeland, becoming the first Tairyn of Mythvye.
Recent History
1063 - 2282 - The Great Forgot
Over many centuries, the nations slowly forgot about the others, becoming quite insular in their own lands. There were always rumours, and the occasional encounter, but largely the five nations had no interaction with each other.
Each nation grew in size, and eventually, it was harder and harder to ignore the presence of other fae. There were some small battles, but despite this, trading began between them.
2272-2289 - The Hand of Anwar
Over the years, the class divide between the aristocracy and the peasantry of Llanhythel grew larger and larger. Eventually, the lower classes sought to rectify this. The revolution was well organised and ultimately successful.
An extremist sect of this group, known as the Hand of Anwar, decided to take their success further. They sought to bring about the “true” unification of Antumnos, and began their invasion into adjacent lands.
The other nations, however, fought back. The Hand of Anwar subsequently failed in their aims, and disbanded.
2348 - Vanora’s Watch
Vanora, a coblyn from the outskirts of Kloth’va, studied the Faewilds. In time, she began to realise that the ley lines that had affected the Bendith had also affected the creatures in the Faewilds. What once was a slightly dangerous forest had become fatal. She petitioned the Liege, who saw the potential in Vanora’s idea, and helped her form an alliance between four of the five nations.
Vanora, however, would never see the culmination of her work. On a special mission with the Yarls of Lyonn, Vanora was killed. This, however, did bring about the agreement of the final nation, Lyonn, and the organisation was named Vanora’s Watch in her honour.
